ABOUT ARTIST
Kristina Oss is a multifaceted visual artist, curator, and educator based in Detroit, Michigan. She is the Founder and Director of K.OSS Art Studio for Kids, where she has been nurturing young creative minds since June 2023. The studio offers Saturday classes during the fall and spring semesters, providing an ideal environment for children to connect, communicate, and develop their creative imaginations. The program is carefully structured with thematic tasks that are combined into blocks, allowing children to delve deeper into chosen themes through films, lectures, and hands-on activities in drawing, painting, and 3D layout. The curriculum integrates elements of architecture, history, geography, literature, and music through visual arts.
From February 2018 to September 2021, Kristina served as the Founder, Director, and Curator of K.OSS Contemporary Art gallery in Detroit’s Eastern Market. She has presented numerous art exhibitions that highlight local, international, and US artists. Additionally, she organised chamber and contemporary music concerts and curated panel talks to foster intellectual discussions and community engagement.
In 2016, Kristina illustrated and self-published a children's picture book titled "Gertie Goes Out" in New York City. The book follows a girl who leaves her room and encounters fascinating birds, animals, and objects, with artwork that is metaphoric, bizarre, and poetic in nature.
Kristina's educational background includes studies at The Art Students League of NYC, The Teaching Studios of Art, SF Art & Film Workshop, Obraz, Moscow School of Photography, and a Bachelor's degree in Linguistics from the Moscow School for the Social and Economic Sciences.
